Mercedes-Benz M-Class Earns Top Safety Pick+ Award from IIHS

recent news story about the Mercedes-Benz
M-Class. It turns out that this prestigious SUV recently
earned the Title of Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway
Safety.

This is impressive news because the receipt of this
award means that the M-Class is the first vehicle in the current production
line to earn this safety accolade. Top Safety Pick+ was created last year to
differentiate the safe cars from the safest cars. When too many automakers were
able to achieve the status of Top Safety Pick, the IIHS had to raise the
bar.

Mercedes-Benz says that this award came after
improvements were made to the doors on the 2014 M-Class which helped improve
frontal overlap ratings. That means occupants of the vehicle's cabin will be
safe if the car were to hit a tree or a telephone pole.
