Mercedes-Benz C-Class for Sale in Toronto

Power Under the Hood

The base C-Class vehicle is the C300, which is built around a 2.0L turbo-four engine producing 255 horsepower and 273lb-ft of torque, passing through a nine-speed automatic transmission to rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Even at the base level this makes the C-Class a sprightly car to drive, but those looking for greater power can trade up to one of the three AMG variants, the C43, the C63, and the C63 S.

The first of these shifts the engine upward to a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 mill pushing out 385hp and 384lb-ft, with the rest of the drivetrain remaining unchanged. The standard C63 uses a 4.0l twin turbo V8 and boosts the output to an impressive 479hp and 479lb-ft, while the C63 S tweaks the V8 engine to provide a startling 503hp and 516lb-ft.

But whichever powertrain you choose, the result is a smooth-driving car with plenty in reserve for daily driving, with blistering performance available in the higher-powered trims.

Fuel Economy

With such a wide choice of powertrains and body choices, the C-Class fuel economy also covers a wide range. The base C300 sedan with rear-wheel drive manages a highly creditable 9.8L / 100km in the city and 6.72L / 100km on the highway, while the coupe drops economy slightly to 10.2L (city) and 7.1L (highway).

At the top end of the performance range, the C63S sedan is rated at 13L and 8.7L, the coupe at 13.8L and 9L, and the convertible at 13.8L and 9.8L.

Interior Comfort and Technology

Under-the-hood excellence aside, the strongest point of the C-Class has always been its impeccable standards of luxury inside the cabin. The latest 2020 release ups the ante even further with a 10.3" infotainment touchscreen as standard, plus a 12.3" digital instrument cluster an optional extra.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are fitted as standard to provide easy smartphone integration, while advanced navigation is available as an upgrade. A premium Burmester surround sound system is standard on all the coupe, convertible, and AMG sedan models, while available as an option on the base C300 sedan.

All trims feature dual-zone climate control and leatherette upholstery, while higher trims add niceties including heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting with 64 colours, and an impressive head-up display.

Driver Assistance

The luxury experience carries through to the driver assist features included as standard:

- Forward collision warnings with passenger detection and automatic emergency braking.

- Blind spot monitoring.

- Crosswind assist.

The optional Driver Assistance package adds to this already impressive tech level, with key extras including:

- Adaptive cruise control.

- Rear cross-traffic alerts.

- Lane keeping and changing assist.

- Evasive steering assist.
