Compare Aston Martin DB11 vs Lamborghini Huracan

Compare Aston Martin DB11 vs Lamborghini Huracan

The Aston Martin brand is a paragon of upmarket British quality, memorable from countless Bond movies and royal appearances alike. But in the high-performance auto world, Lamborghini is an Italian byword for searing power and advanced design. Which is the right carmaker for you? To find out, we'll compare one of each company's top models, namely the Aston Martin DB11 and the Lamborghini Huracan.

Looks and Design

The DB11 displays all the classic elements of an Aston Martin, with its relatively traditional grand touring design updated with a sleek, low modern look. The car looks surprisingly big, with its wide haunches and broad grille, but it's streamlined and powerful, with active aerodynamic features that increase downforce at higher speeds.

The Lamborghini has an altogether more extravagant appearance, taking the most modern sports design values and propelling them into the future. If you want an archetypal sports car that'll turn heads and take no prisoners, the Huracan is the car for you.

Under the Hood

At this level of exclusivity, you'd expect plenty of power under the hood and both cars deliver with plenty to spare. The Huracan makes an impressive 571 horsepower and 400lb-ft of torque from its V10 engine, passed to rear-wheel drive through an Audi twin-clutch transmission. This drivetrain powers the Lamborghini from 0-100kmh in a searing 3.6 seconds.

The DB11 packs a 5.2L twin-turbo V12 delivering a mighty 630 horsepower and 518lb-ft of torque, which on paper gives it the edge in performance over the Lambo. However, the official 0-100kmh figure of 3.9 seconds doesn't quite scale the same heights, although it's still highly impressive. Nonetheless, the combination of rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed torque converter transmission gives a powerful and aggressive drive, particularly in the fast-shifting Sport and Sport+ modes.

Interior Comfort and Technology

The range of standard features on the DB11 is too long to list, from the leather seats to the electronic instrument cluster with mode-specific displays. Suffice to say, you couldn't ask for a more upscale experience, although one curious omission is the lack of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on the otherwise well-specified infotainment system powered by an 8" display.

Likewise, the Lamborghini boasts an impressive array of interior features, from the digital dashboard and electric seats to the high-powered Audi audio system. Perhaps a little strangely, a separate infotainment screen is completely absent with all features integrated on the sash, but in fairness when you're driving the Huracan you'll only have eyes for the road.

Lamborghini Huracan vs Aston Martin DB11: The Verdict

Although both are highly desirable high-performance cars, the Aston Martin DB11 and the Lamborghini Huracan are aimed at very different markets. For high-class comfort, searing power, and a classic pedigree that can't be beaten, the Aston Martin takes the prize. However, the Lamborghini is a huge amount of fun to drive, will turn plenty more heads, and the overall drive feel is more on-edge and exhilarating.
